How, Did, What, What?

Monday 2/12/18

Hey Nate,

How did the sacrament go yesterday?

Did you have an appointment with the bishop?

What are you listening too in the way of General Conference?

What are you studying in the way of scriptures?

I will use the first letter of each of those questions to answer them myself.
H- I sit in the middle of the top row of choir seats to conduct the music. The deacon passes me the sacrament over the bench in front of me when he is done with the bishop and high councilman. Our deacons blew it yesterday. They forgot the northwest corner of the congregation for the bread. Poor guys, they are so young and some are so dumb/ oblivious. I am trying to remember where my mind was during the sacrament. Have you ever noticed that Heavenly Father is addressed twice in each prayer and the Jesus Christ is addressed twice in each prayer? I copied the sacrament prayers from Moroni last week and noticed that.
D- No, but I interacted with him a few times. He supports the choir after his meetings end and he joins the tenor section for the last 15 minutes of practice. He was one of 2 tenors. Our bishopric conduct for a month at a time. It is his month to conduct. I asked his permission to make a final announcement in priesthood opening exercises about the most efficient way for the HP's to change the seating into a circle. I had even drawn a seating chart on the board.:)
W- I am doing the sustaining session of conference over and over. Years ago I discovered I could find peace in the middle of the sleepless night by listening to GC. I have trust issues but I trust our 15 apostles. If I fell asleep in a conference talk in the middle of the night, all the better. Currently I use them to wake me up in the morning and get me thinking. Some people say there are no coincidences. I don't agree. But Apostle Rasband seemed to say that over and over again in his talk. My faith is not that strong yet.
W- I believe the apostles talks are modern day, up to the minute scripture. So that is all I am studying right now. I do copy a page from the book of mormon once or twice a week. I believe and love that book. As strange as it may sound I decided last year I wanted to experience what Oliver Cowdery did. For 65 days he wrote what fell from Joseph's lips. No commas, no periods, just words. I wondered what it would feel like if I were to try that. This is an experiment in progress.

How about you?

11:10am-later

I have put in two hours at FSearch. I am taking a break.

My FS nickname is Vincenzo because I index in  Italian. I claimed it 4 years ago.

Sister Horsely is this quiet diminutive sister who wears a set of safety goggles over her glasses. Those safety goggles are really magnifiers.

She is here everyday for  6-8 hours. Talk about dedication!

We made friends about a year ago. I have to stand and walk around to give my body a rest/exercise every hour or two. She would be eating out on the patio and I would stop and visit and she would offer me her sandwich. No thanks.

She makes a point of shaking my hand or looking in my eyes and saying hello each day. For my first break today I knelt by her computer, she always sits on the end close to the director's office. I asked her how she keeps track, how she stays motivated, who she reports to? She said she just feels rewarded by the spirit as she finds names from her ancestors that need temple work done.

I told her how I went for help from Irene Nelson during SS time 3 weeks ago and that we made no progress in an hour. She was curious about my account and I offered to show her on her computer. She totally clammed up. She looked down. She couldn't talk to me. She put on her safety glasses.

I was surprised. I quickly apologized and left.

We all have limits and issues. I don't know what happened but somehow she didn't feel safe. Oh well. Onward and Upward.
